Real nutrition is essential. When you are hungry, your body is not so much craving solid matter it is craving the nutrients in foods, real nutrients from natural, whole foods. When your body has plenty of nutrients in reserve to deliver whenever needed, the desire shifts into standby mode. This is until the cells recognize that the liver and brain need more nutrients.
